Reiki

Reiki is a simple of technique originating from Japan that promotes healing on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.  A simple translation of the word Reiki is 'universal life force energy' (also known as prana. qi or chi), and this is something to which we are all connected.  If one's life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

During a Reiki treatment, the practitioner's hands are very gently placed on the fully clothed body of a person in a variety of established places on the head, chest, abdomen and back.  This method activates and balances the life force energy whilst the light hand placement helps to align the chakras and channel energy to organs and glands.  Reiki can be used as a form of health maintenance and disease prevention, and can be taught as a self-help technique, or used on others.

Ongoing research is showing that Reiki plays an important part in improving, among other benefits, the quality of life for those with life limiting illness, reduction of pain, reduction of side effects from Chemotherapy and reduces stress and anxiety.  It
also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to promote recovery.
For this reason, in many countries including Australia, Reiki is offered as a complementary therapy to many hospitals, nursing homes, palliative care hospices and community service settings.

Being popular the world over, Reiki empowers people to regain control of their health.  It is not a form of religion and carries no dogma.  It is open for everyone who wishes to learn about changing their lives for the better.

The benefits of Reiki include:

  • deep relaxation and stress relief

  • increased focus and direction of one's life

  • balance of mind, body and spirit

  • can provide relief from symptoms of various illnesses and ailments
