Pregnancy Massage - Pre & Post Natal Care

Pregnancy and Motherhood are perhaps the most profound stages of life a woman can experience.  This rite of passage impacts not only the physiological but emotional and mental levels of a woman's life.  Massage can provide great nourishment and support during this time.  Benefits of massage during and after pregnancy include:

  • Reduces discomfort of pain and tension during labour and birth
Increases circulation, reducing excessive toxins and fatigue
Alleviates stress on the body and maintains flexibility in muscles, ligaments, tendons and joints.
Reduces muscle spasms and leg cramps

Provides emotional support and physical nurturing
Enhances recovery of muscle tissue after birth.

Clearance from Obstetrician/Doctor is required prior to treatment.  We advise that treatment can only begin after the end of first trimester (Week 13) of pregnancy.

Remedial Massage

This is a firm massage which assists in the repair of muscular and soft tissue problems, using skilled techniques to treat specific musculoskeletal problems and injuries. This form of massage is ideal for sore, tired muscles.

Deep Tissue

A stronger massage that rebalances the muscles and connective tissue, using techniques such as friction, deep strokes and trigger points. It assists in the prevention of “overuse injuries”.

Myofascial Release

Deep, slow strokes using finger chisel, fists, forearm and knuckles to release the fascia. Treats the muscular pain and injuries that affect movement and mobility. Preventative, corrective and rehabilitative therapy that works with the body’s soft tissue structure and involves stretching, soft tissue manipulation and corrective exercises. Myofascial Release is based on the theory that all parts of the body are connected.

Swedish/Relaxation Massage

Therapeutic Swedish Massage is used to release all forms of physical tension and inner stress. It stimulates the circulation, calms the nervous system, eases pain and realigns structural problems.  By working with the muscular system, we can shift blocks allowing the life force to flow more freely and the body to function fully.
