Mother's Connection is going on-line, we will be starting a Mother's Connection Blog shortly, so you can join in our discussions without leaving home.  If you would like to join the Mother's Connection Blog please either email or call the clinic to register your interest.

Mother’s Connection is not just another Mother’s Group. Mother’s Connection aims to provide a supportive environment for all mothers. As well as providing you with emotional support we will also provide some practical parenting advice. Being a Mother is the most important role that most of us will ever take on, but we all know that this role doesn’t come with an instruction book.

Mother’s Connection is about parenting, it is about your children and most importantly it is about You - You as a mother, as a partner, as a worker and you as a person.

Who needs Mother’s Connection?

All Mothers – first timers, second, third or fourth timers, pregnant mothers – any mother. Everyone has something to share, everyone will learn something new and everyone will receive support.

Mother’s Connection is conducted in a child friendly environment with plenty of entertainment for your pre-schoolers. We also have baby change facilities. Morning tea is included in session.

Discussion Topics

Some of the upcoming discussion topics include:

  • You as a mother

  • Baby sleep concerns and settling techniques

  • The physical and emotional you

  • Relationships

  • Baby feeding concerns and weaning

As well as discussion groups, the Mother's Connection will also present some guest speakers who will cover some of the practical concerns of parenting like sleeping, feeding, weaning etc.  We will also have some of the practitioners from The Ambaa Tree holding workshops and giving mini-treatments.

 Our Facilitators and Guest Speakers

Angela Counsel - Naturopath and Nutritionist, DIrector of The Ambaa Tree

Angela is the Director of The Ambaa Tree Natural Health Clinic, a practicing Naturopath and Nutritionist and also a mother of 2 young children.  Angela realised that many mother's often feel isolated at home and some experienced feelings of guilt, inadequacy.  She wanted to create an environment where mother's could feel free to express their feelings and receive the support that they required.  So the Mother's Connection was created.  Utilising Katie Brown's "Mother Me" book to provide some input, weekly discussion groups were established.

Pat Keenlyside – Regd Nurse, Midwife, Tresillian Trained Child & Family Health Nurse, Trained as a Lactation Consultant.

Pat has worked as a midwife for many years. When she completed her Tresillian training she realised that working with families with young children is where her passion lay. She was a clinic sister in an Early Childhood Health Clinic for a number of years then progressed to private practice which allows her to give more time to the parents she sees without the time constraints. She is a mother of two sons and grandmother to two adorable grandchildren.

Katie Brown - Author of Mother Me
